Successfully closing a $235 million Series A funding round co-led by Braidwell and Collective Global, Lila Sciences announced a significant company milestone with contributions from numerous other investors.
The company's core mission is to create "scientific superintelligence" by applying AI to every step of the scientific method, thereby accelerating the pace of discovery across critical fields like energy, computing, materials, and medicine. To achieve this, Lila is building an end-to-end platform that unifies AI, software, and robotics, and has developed "AI Science Factories"—physical facilities where AI-driven systems can autonomously generate hypotheses, design and run experiments, and learn from results. These factories serve as a "body" for the scientific mind, allowing for thousands of parallel experiments and enabling the company to train models with a higher level of scientific intelligence than is possible with internet-scale data alone. The company highlights the potential for this technology to rapidly advance breakthroughs, such as designing new protein therapeutics and catalysts, accelerating clean-energy technologies, and unlocking next-generation compute, in a fraction of the time traditionally required.
The new capital will be used to enhance the intelligence, scale, and speed of Lila's platform and to expand their team and facilities with new hubs in Boston, San Francisco, and London. Ultimately, Lila's goal is to increase the speed of science and deliver life-changing benefits to humanity through artificial intelligence.
