Quantum-Si has launched its new V4 Sequencing Kit, a product designed to improve and expand the capabilities of its proteomics technology platform. The kit is compatible with the company's existing Platinum and Platinum Pro instruments and introduces several key advancements.

A major feature of the V4 Sequencing Kit is its ability to sequence beyond proline, an amino acid that has previously posed a challenge. This new capability is particularly important for analyzing proline-rich domains commonly found in antibodies and membrane proteins, which are critical in many biological processes.

The kit also offers expanded amino acid coverage, with improved recognition of glycine, alanine, and serine, and new algorithms and an enzyme that enhance precision and mixture handling. These improvements result in an 85% increase in the number of sequenceable peptides compared to the previous V3 kit.

The company's President and CEO, Jeff Hawkins, highlighted that this new version represents a "significant leap forward" for their technology. The enhanced performance will not only unlock new applications, such as antibody sequencing, but also allow customers to more effectively analyze complex protein mixtures. Additionally, the V4 Sequencing Kit enables customers using barcoding to achieve cost savings with an expanded 24-plex option without sacrificing analytical performance. Quantum-Si's platform aims to make single-molecule protein analysis accessible to every lab, providing real-time kinetic-based detection to accelerate proteomic discoveries.
